Well for starters Ican't for the life of me sit still. I need to constantly be doing something that stimulates my mind and keeps some part of me moving. During the beginning of 2020 I had no work due to the new pandemic and was bored out of my mind. I think we all had a period of time where our lives were brought to a halt and we didn't know what to do.
I was working on my last few semesters of school at the time. I was learning online with live classes. One disadvantage to live classes is that they tend to be more time consuming. I had a couple of teachers that LOVED to listen to the sound of their own voice. (Especialy that one teacher whose favourite word was "ummm") They would drone on and on and on and on about some story that had nearly nothing to do with what we were learning, nothing worth taking notes of anyways. So I got out my knitting. At first it was just simple dishcloths, something I could do with just muscle memory, something that didn't require me to take my eyes from the screen very often.
Again, I was tring to be productive even with my hobbies, so I picked projects that I could use. That's when I started making market bags, small face clothes and socks. I even tried halter tops. (That definitely taught me to stitch tighter...) While I was grateful that it kept me sane as I finished school, I ended up with a surplus of finished projects. I gifted many of them to friends and family but that didn't pay for the material I was flying through.
Thus, an Etsy page was created..... and then a small business. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to go anywhere, I knew to keep my expectations low. But now that it's starting to pick up, I couldn't be more pleased. I'm having so much fun seeing feedback on my work, talking with customers and other sellers, learning new techniques, and feeling like I'm accomplishing something.
My goal for this business is to promote eco friendliness, connect and learn, and just plain old have fun!
